I’m certainly no Hemingway and I am more than grateful I am not involved in the fight of World War I at this time (or any time in my life), but, I’m hoping that perhaps this cocktail can and will become a bestseller, just as his famed novel.
At the same time, as summer is coming to an end, I’m saying goodbye, farewell, to the light and bright citrus cocktails, welcoming in a new season of my beloved and not forgotten palate for whiskey, scotch, and bourbon: A Farewell to Orange Cocktail.

A Farewell to Orange

1 oz. Cointreau liqueur
2 oz. wheated bourbon
6 drops Earl Grey-Orange Bitters (I made my own)
ice
orange peel

Combine the Cointreau, wheated bourbon, bitters, and ice in a cocktail mixing glass. Stir well and allow the ice to melt for about 2-3 minutes.
Strain and serve with fresh orange peel.
