Well, I did it again.
I accidentally baked bread.
At least I didn’t accidentally buy anything this time, right?
I was driving home from a lovely lunch with my dad – we have a dedicated lunch date once a month – yes, I’m a Daddy’s Girl. And, I just felt the need – the URGE- to bake. For no reason, no rhyme.
Thus, I delivered the delicious bread to the crew below – warm and ready to eat.
I hope they liked it.
I know the aroma drove me wild!
Cherry Oatmeal Artisanal Bread
1 cup warm water
1 1/2 tsp. dry active yeast
1 1/2 tsp. sea salt
2 Tbs. light brown sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup whole oats
2 Tbs. butter, room temperature
1 cup dried cherries
In a large bowl, add the yeast to the water. Allow to ferment for about 10 minutes.
Add the salt, sugar, flour, oats, butter, and cherries and mix until well combined.
Loosely cover with a towel and allow to rise for 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 450 degrees, for at least 40 minutes.
Once the dough has risen, form into a boule and transfer to a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake for 23 minutes, until golden brown.
Allow to cool slightly before slathering in butter and devouring.
