I’ve been in love with Hail Merry Miracle Tarts for quite some time now.
I can’t remember when I first discovered these miraculous mounds ~ for a while there I was treating myself to the chocolatey of chocolatiest Chocolate Miracle Tart on a regular basis. Actually, I’d rotate between the Chocolate and Chocolate Almond…and sometimes I’d even slather an extra mound or two of nut butter atop the tart just because I could.
Oh, they are so good!
So, when I discovered Hail Merry had released a new variety of Mini Miracle Tarts, my heart began to flutter just a little. Bite sized mounds of miracles.
Hail Merry Miracle Tarts® were originally inspired by the raw foods movement, where raw plant based fats are loved and appreciated not only for their unique benefits, but for the luxurious and satisfying mouth feel they offer. Our coconut oil ganache filling is popular with athletes who appreciate energizing medium chain fats, but we also appeal to the true foodie, who loves coconut oil for its unique sweet flavor. The delicious sweet almond flour crust of our Miracle Tart® is so good it can stand alone as its own shortbread cookie, and has the added benefit of containing good fats. Perfect for that personal moment of reward, as a pre-workout snack, or for entertaining your friends and family. Loved by Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Vegans, Paleos or anyone seeking pure ingredient snacks that taste great!
Maybe it’s the wholesome goodness and highly nutritious component of the sweet treat miracles that first lured me in…
…or maybe it was just the intensely delicious flavor.
Either way, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the new minis.
Our award winning Miracle Tarts® are often shared with friends since two forks is always better than one. However, our fans kept asking if we could make single serve mini tarts for entertaining their friends at parties or for that perfect two bite experience. So it is with tremendous pride that we introduce the Mini Miracle Tarts® – Voila’!
I searched high and low and had a quite a time locating the Mini Miracles in my neck of the woods.
At last, about an hour away, I was able to snatch them up and bring them home to try.
Of all the varieties, I chose those most different from what I’d already experienced in the “regular” sized tarts. Just to be different, you know?
- Chocolate Almond Butter
- Meyer Lemon
- Chocolate Creme
- Chocolate Chile Pecan
are all offered as minis ~ but I chose to step outside the box and taste test the three “reduced sugar” flavors. Remember how I don’t like sweets as much as the rest of the world? I thought these three would suit me best: Sweet Potato, Strawberry Rhubarb, and Blueberry Acai’.
Sweet Potato
“Sweet potato is a southern classic flavor that delivers big on spice and nice. Complimented by our almond flour shortbread cookie crust, these mini tarts are perfect after a special meal or for those special gatherings with friends and family.”
This is where I first began. I’m a huge sweet potato fan, both savory and sweet. I’ve never had sweet potato pie, but do enjoy the custardy, hearty, spiced filling of a pumpkin pie and figured I would enjoy this just as much.
Just as much I did, if not more. I’m not quite sure how the difference in crust taste is accomplished among the three varieties I tried, as they all seem to contain similar (if not the same) ingredients for the tart crust, but offer subtle flavor and texture differences. The Sweet Potato tart was perfectly shortbread-like. I loved it. Buttery (from the awesome coconut oil) with the sweet starchy potato and the perfect amount of spice. The spice stuck with me ~ but it was profoundly perfect, I must say. I loved it.
Each little tart was about 2 bites for me. One may profess that to be the perfect size for a snack…um…I chose three tarts as my little snack.
I simply couldn’t resist.
I’m a sucker for sweet potato anything.
Strawberry Rhubarb
“This reduced sugar recipe is believed to be the one most packed with flavor. These strawberry rhubarb tarts taste super fresh and have just the right amount of tartness. These are sure to put a smile on the face of your favorite little person or “Gal”entine.”
Even though I really, really liked (and loved the Sweet Potato Mini Miracle), this mini tart was by far my favorite. I has the absolute perfect ration of sweet to salt. Yes, salt. I could truly taste the salt and it sent me into a salubrious and satisfactory flavor spin. You see, I adore good salt – and this had every bit of it. It was almost as though I was consuming a bit of strawberry cream, sprinkled with the most amazing caramelized salt on earth. Yes, caramelized is the correct terminology here, as Hail Merry somehow accomplished the feat of creating such a flavor component in this rare raw little treat. The mini tart displayed quite a lovely aroma, a beautiful pink color, and a matching taste and texture. The rhubarb really seemed out of sight – but no bother here. The flavor is simply divine as is…not too sweet and not too tart. ~ which reminds me ~ of the other fruity varieties in the larger tarts, I have found the experience to be much TOO SWEET and the filling to be rather overpowering (hence my tendency toward the chocolate larger tarts). The little guys, though, contain the perfect amount of filling for their size. Nothing dominates. It’s all just right for this little goldilocks.
Blueberry Acai”
“Blueberries and Acai’ are both known as the Queens of Superfoods. Loaded with antioxidants, blueberries combined with sweet almond milk make for a purely soothing slightly sweet experience. These tarts pair well with tea and your most favorite friend.”
Last on the tasting table was the Blueberry Acai’ flavor. I was super excited and super-enthused to get my tongue to taste the “queens of superfood” in this flavor combination. Health and happiness go hand in hand when it comes to super berries.
My evaluation on this flavor variety, though, was a bit different. While still very good and quite enjoyable, it was my least favorite of the three. I felt as though the coconut flavor in the crust was much stronger this time (less salt) and displayed much more texture – I could “taste” the flaked coconut much more than in any other variety. While this is not necessarily a bad thing, I felt as though it distracted me from the rest of the goodness the Mini Miracle had to offer.
That said, I wasn’t really able to identify either the blueberry or acai’ as strong flavor components. In fact, the overall mouth and taste experienced really and truly reminded me of eating a Fig Newton. Again, this is not a bad thing, just very different from what I expected.
Don’t get me wrong, I certainly would not find myself refusing a Blueberry Acai’ Mini Miracle Tart when push came to shove…but if I had the choice, I believe my little fingers would find theirselves wrapped around the Strawberry Rhubarb Mini Miracle Tart – or maybe 3 or 4 of them.
Thank you, Hail Merry, for this miraculous opportunity to taste, savor, and share my Mini experience with the world. I feel blessed and honored…and now newly addicted!
