I was looking for an excuse to use the deep, rich, silky stout that sat in my fridge for a few days.
St. Patrick’s Day was just the answer…
Chocolate and dark stout brownies. Yes, there really needs to be no other conversation.
The rich, deep flavors of a stout pair so well with chocolate. Everyone loves brownies.
And, we all need more food for the St. Patty’s Day green festivities too, right?
Well, I may not have used Irish stout for this recipe, but we can pretend, just this once.
Irish Stout Chocolate Brownies
1 1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp. sea salt
4 large eggs
12 oz. dark stout beer
1 cup all purpose flour
8 Tbs. butter, melted
1 1/2 cup + 1 Tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Line the bottom of a square baking dish with parchment paper.
Beat together the sugar, salt, and eggs. Stir in the beer.
Meanwhile, combine the melted butter with the cocoa powder over low heat, until all is combined. Stir in, along with the flour, to the beer batter.
Pour into the prepared baking pan and bake for about 35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool before slicing.
Dust with additional cocoa powder, if desired.
And, have a beer with your brownies!
