Several years ago I embarked on a raw, gluten-free, vegan diet. The journey was rather amazing, but just a little too vibrant for my hummingbird heart.
You see those individuals who consume only raw foods population the planet with an incredibly high vibration: the food is alive and vibrant. This truly is a remarkable asset for many. But for me, I’m already moving a million miles a minute, so I need a little bit of grounding in my life.
Thus, I began to incorporate more cooked foods into my diet. This was more sustainable. And, when I lived in the gorgeous greenery of the PNW, I was also able to easily indulge (guilt-free) in a multitude of raw foods meals and treats on a regular basis.
I’ve missed that.
While I’m perfectly capable of creating my own raw-food amazingness, the simple truth is, I’m just too lazy.
It takes so much time, so much energy, and so much money! Seriously – it’s not worth it. I’d rather rely on the professionals – and in this case, Nicecream Sammies.
When I discovered these little sammich delights, I thought I might lose my mind – or at least be immediately transported to heaven.

Luckily today vegan, dairy free and gluten free options are expanding but unfortunately the ingredient list can be scary. These products can be filled with processed fillers, preservatives, artificial flavors and thickening agents. That’s where we come in. Nicecream Sammies are made with real food and no added B.S. I try to eat organic. I love raw foods. I enjoy vegan foods. I do not consume gluten. I do not consume refined sugar. I actually don’t consume grain at all. (Those of you who follow my blog and who are reading this may be shocked). I make choices every day – but
– I also LOVE to indulge. And these indulgences are guilt-free.
I have too much guilt in my life to worry about ice cream sandwiches, so thank you, Nicecream Sammies for making my life that much easier and just that much sweeter!

I was blessed with four of the five for my tasting session, as the PB and Chocolate variety is so utterly delicious and popular, I missed the stock by a peanut and a chocolate chip.
- Cookie Dough Sammie with Salty Sweet Nicecream – I already knew this one would be my very favorite
- Cookie Dough Sammie with Cocoa Nicecream
- Fudge Batter Sammie with Cocoa Nicecream
- Fudge Batter Sammie with Raspberry Nicecream
- Peanut Butter Sammie with Chocochunk Nicecream – this flavor is the most popular and I’m pretty sure would give the Cookie Dough with Salty Sweet Nicecream a run for its money in my mind…I’m on my way to Willamette Market & Deli at this very moment to check it out!
Because I just knew the Cookie Dough and Salty Sweet would be my favorite (I know myself well and rarely surprise myself, or anyone else for that matter), I decided to dig in to that one first – and last (I made sure to save a bite for the end). The crust is salty enough to make me smile and sweet enough to make me sing. Not too salty and not too sweet. Perfect for this goldilocks. Just right. The center – again, perfect for goldilocks, not too salty and not too sweet! Believe it or not, I adore a hint of salt with my sweet – it’s actually my greatest downfall – I adore it entirely too much.
Oh, and the texture: phenomenal. I’m not quite sure how these magicians accomplished the texture – as I have quite a bit of experience in the kitchen as well as in the raw foods world, and it’s tough! I guess that is exactly why I leave it to the professionals!
You know those ice cream sandwiches from childhood, the ones with the thick chocolate “cookie” crust and the melty vanilla ice cream filling? The ones that came in a foil wrapper – remember how the cookie was sort of like a cake, but also still somewhat like a cookie – and how all the chocolate gunk of the matter filled your teeth to create an over the top chocolate induced smile? Your dentist (and your parents) frowned upon you..
The texture is just like that! Except…the chocolate cake goodness goes straight to your happy tummy, and not your fingertips, nor does it create a slurry and slush of chocolate wash over your pearly whites.
It’s SO much better!
And, the little chunks of Salty Sweet packed inside the Nicecream? Oh, swoon. OMG. Or, as Brian says, “OMGG!” Truly spectacular.
Next up I tried the same sammie with a cocoa filling. Equally compelling in texture and taste – and REAL chocolate – I just preferred the salt with my sweet. But still quite delicious.
Then the Fudge Batter Sammie with Cocoa inside – again so deliciously chocolate, it’s almost indescribable. I think you’re going to have to try this for yourself. Honestly!
And finally, Fudge Batter Sammie with Raspberry filling – c’mon. There’s not one human being on earth who does not enjoy berries and chocolate. Seriously. Vanilla with real, “live” chunks and hunks of raspberry. I would say the best ever…but I’m still leaning towards the salt. However, you wouldn’t have to twist my arm for me to inhale one of these little sammies any day.
So, while I’m sad I didn’t have the opportunity to try out the Peanut Butter Sammie with Cocoachunk Nicecream, this gives me yet another opportunity and excuse to taste test and research further…
