No need to tire of shortbread yet.
Try this recipe TODAY – Christmas – for the buttery, soft, sweet, salty homemade shortbread deliciousness I’ve hardly coaxed you into loving – topped with festive Peanut Butter M&M candies!
Peanut Butter M&M Shortbread
1 cup butter, melted and cooled
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. sea salt
12 oz. Peanut Butter M&Ms (or your favorite variety – I like the Christmas Almond M&Ms, but they were out of stock!)
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Mix together the melted and cooled butter, flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Stir well until a somewhat stiff dough forms.
Press flat into a parchment lined baking dish, smoothing all surfaces.
Chill for 30 minutes.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and cool 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle with the candy and cool before slicing and serving.
