I have this friend – you see.
In fact, she’s my very BEST girlfriend in the whole world.
And she’s a master in both the garden and the kitchen.
Of the multitude of gifts she’s gifted me with her gifts this year, fresh grape juice toiled from the gorgeous grapes she grew in her own secret garden.
The juice was delicious, but I simply couldn’t let those luscious little fruits soaking in their succor go to waste…
And slathered atop Artisan baked bread and warm homemade butter….
I’m sure you can imagine the goodness.
Simple Spiced Grape Jam
1 c. fresh grape juice, with grapes**
3/4 c turbinado
1 Tbs fresh sage, torn or finely chopped
1 1/2 tsp. pectin
1 tsp. freshly ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. Meyer lemon salt
Combine all ingredients together in a medium pot on the stove top. Bring to a boil, whisk to combine, and reduce to a simmer. Continue stirring and whisking until the mixture thickens, about 20 minutes.
Cool before transferring to small glass jars (makes about 1 pint).
** Substitute 1 cup grape juice + 1/2 cup red grapes and break down the grapes with the back of a spoon as the jam cooks.
